Your role & work environment
The global banking environment changes rapidly: fast technology evolution, new players challenging the status quo, customers looking for convenience anytime, anywhere.  To continue delivering on its purpose – empowering people to stay a step ahead in life and in business – ING intends to transform itself and accelerate its Think Forward strategy.
As zone director,
  • you are responsible in this context for organizing an optimal cross-segment synergy (between Private Individuals, Personal banking, Business banking, Private banking & Midcorps-institutionals).
  • you will be reporting directly to the head of the Center of Expertise ‘Distribution’, and you are local partner to optimize sales performances across segments by:
  • Best leveraging physical footprint
  • Motivating and stimulation collaboration (statutory & independent network)
  • Organizing local presence
  • Being responsible for “face of ING” in the zone and each region
  • Facilitating digital adoption, client acquisition, optimization margins, fee income and cross-buy between segments
More specifically, as zone director:
  • You have the overall responsibility of animating, coordination and directing the growth of customer satisfaction, customer portfolio, income, assets and liabilities, the development of the business and the achievement of the financial and business objectives of the zone
  • You are responsible for the distribution aspects within the zone (eg location service/sales points) and makes sure that the sales and distribution approach of the zone is fully aligned with the strategy of the bank
  • You are the manager of the team of regional directors as well as the zonal staff functions (change coaches, support officers, PR, …)
  • You are responsible for the strict implementation and respect of all non-financial (eg compliance) and risk management rules & aspects;
  • Your represents the bank in your zone towards social partners, authorities, stakeholders, clients and prospects
Your key responsibilities
As zone director:
  • As a role model, you strengthen the ‘ING way of working’ while safeguarding the Orange Code
  • You implement and helps to define the strategy
  • You stimulate cross segment sales & synergy
  • You manage your different teams, coordinate & organize

  • Number of active clients: 625.000 active clients
  • Number of regions: 12
  • Number of branches: 148 (45 statutory (Privalis included) / 103 independent branches)

  • A born organizer, structured and methodological
    As you should have as well:
  • Relevant banking experience & extensive knowledge of the ING organization, the variety of distribution channels, as well as the variety of segments
  • Proven track record in people management with broad scope
  • Experience in sales and a strong client focus and market orientation
  • Minimum experience of 5 years on a senior management level
  • Strong work ethic combined with a very structured and disciplined approach, resulting in getting things done
  • A pro-active, can-do mentality, with a strong sense of responsibility, driving for timely and high-quality output and demonstrating resilience
  • Excellent communication skills and proven influencing skills with the ability to work at all levels and use indirect influence
  • Excellence in stakeholder management, conflict & change management
